Holiday Icons Sail Into Wiscasset

Come on down to the Wiscasset Commerical Pier on Saturday, December  1st, 2012, for family fun and wintry surprises as the Wiscasset Area Chamber of Commerce and the Town of Wiscasset celebrate the kick-off of their first shop-local campaign, Think Outside the Box.  There will be fire pits on the dock and hot refreshments for sale to keep you toasty warm while you await the arrival of none other than the big man himself, Santa Claus!  That's right, folks, Santa Clause will be sailing up the Sheepscot in a local lobster boat accompanied by Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer and Frosty the Snowman.  These three Holiday Icons will land at Wiscasset Commercial Pier at approximately 3pm to meet and greet the children of the area, pose for photographs and to help the town get ready for its tree lighting ceremony later that evening. 

The fun begins at 2pm with games on the pier provided by the Wiscasset Athletic Boosters and free horse and wagon rides in the village.  Keep warm by one of the fire pits on the pier burning specially for this winter celebration.  The Morris Farm 4-H Club, WPS Partners in Education and the Wiscasset Middle School will be out selling hot cider, hot cocoa, freshly baked goods, nachos and more.  Plus, Think Outside the Box Passports will be distributed there for the first time.  For every $20 you spend in a participating business or nonprofit and get a stamp in your passport; 5 stamps qualify for the Big Prize Drawing on December 20th at Le Garage's Le Bar at 15 Water Street.  Get all the details on the dock December 1st plus have a hot cocoa with Santa!

The Wiscasset Tree Lighting Ceremony begins at 4:30pm on the Town Commons in front of the 1st Congregational Church.  Walk right up Maine Street with Frosty and Rudolph if you want and get your first passport stamps on the way!  For more information on this wildly exciting holiday celebration or to learn more about the Think Outside the Box Campaign, please visit or call the office at 882-9600. 

The WIscasset Area Chamber of Commerce will announce the winners of its Holiday Lights Decorating contest at 2:30pm as well as the start of its new holiday shop-local campaign, "Think Outside the Box."  Merrymakers at the Pier will be able to pick up Think Outisde the Box Passports that day and begin getting stamps.  Anyone who spends $20 or more in a participating business or nonprofit will get a stamp in their passport; get 5 stamps and qualify for a raffle drawing on December 20th at Le Bar
