Boothbay Harbor celebrates hometown gold medalist
News

BOOTHBAY HARBOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A lot of people around Boothbay Harbor were up early in front of their computers today to watch streaming video of the U.S. Women's 8 Rowing Team race as Ellie Logan took her home her second gold medal.

People around town say Today's win is just as sweet as her 2008 gold medal win. All around Boothbay Harbor there are signs of encouragement for Ellie. But her biggest fans can be found at the House of Logan. Ellie's aunt Sarah was busy after the Gold medal win putting up balloons in front of the shop. 8-gold ones for each member of the rowing team, and 3 red white and blue ones.

This is the second time her niece is bringing home the gold, but it's just as exciting as the first time.

"She was a little kid back then, now she's in command of her feeling. It's exciting but a very fulfilling feeling", she said.

Ellie has a lot of supporters in Boothbay Harbor at the YMCA, where her grandfather was one of the founders. It was here back in 2008 where the town welcomed back it's Olympic hero. Townspeople turned out to celebrate and show their appreciation for all the hard work Ellie put in to pursuing and achieving her dream of Olympic Gold. Folks there say they would love to hold another celebration there for Ellie, it just depends on her schedule and when she plans to be back in town.
